The silent auction of the children's art was a smashing success. While the organizers didn't expect anyone but parents to bid on the art, they (and other parents) were amazed when parents from other classes and teachers at the school started bidding as well. While some of us freaked out a little at the thought of losing our child's art (or at the prices we were going to have to pay for it), we were impressed that other people actually wanted it and were happy to see the amount of funds being raised for tsunami relief.

Some highlights:

Abby's sponge painting sold for $50!

The work that sold for the highest amount was "Parts of a Frog" by Libby for $100.

We enjoyed watching Deatra and Scott (parents of Jada) get into the spirit of the auction by bidding against one another on Jada's beautiful sewing of a bicycle!

Rabbit Jumping by Moey was also involved in a bidding war.  Moey's grandma Lynne won the final bid (but then gave it to Ms. Quiana, her competitor, as a gift).

Lucy's "Map of the World" sold to another parent in the class (Andrew's mom) for $45.

Some children, such as Brooke, had friends, family, and even neighbors attend the auction to bid on her work.

We were thrilled so many grandparents, such as Harris's grandmother, placed bids at the event.

A child in the class won the bid on Lia's friendship necklace and then returned it to her "to be friends."
